Actually Mr.Pangalos stayed in the Royal Suite for free

Mr. Pangalos, the Vice-President of the government, stayed for free with his family as a guest of the Daskalantonaki family, owners of the Grecotel hotel chain. Mr.Pangalos stayed at the 4,500-euro p.n. royal penthouse suite of the hotel, whereas the hotel made a public statement that he stayed in a room at 219 euros per night.

Proto Thema newspaper spoke with employees of the King George Hotel, and they specifically stated there was no proof of payment for the room. Proto Thema also obtained the official list of reservations, which indicates the official statement of the hotel was untrue. The hotel, trying to protect their VIP guest, stated that he, his wife and three children never stayed at the Royal Suite but in a simple room which they paid for.

The hotel implied he simply didnt have time to go to his house and stayed at the hotel, which is opposite the Parliament. However, it is known that Mr. Pangalos owns a flat in Kolonaki, which is also walking distance from the Parliament.

The hotel staff checked the resevation system, proving that either they do not know how to do their jobs, or that the receipt was issued after our first article about Mr.Pangalos' stay at the hotel. Another piece of evidence that shows Mr.Pangalos and his family enjoyed their stay for free, is the official list of reservations, on which their arrival and departure are recorded with the word "complimentary" next to them.

The room number is 900, which is the number for the Royal Penthouse suite covering the entire top (9th) floor of the hotel, The specific suite was only used only by members of the Daskalantonakis family on different dates during the holidays.

Asked whether his comments and lifestyle are in adherence to the Prime Minister's guidelines for a specific government profile, 71% said they are not. 80% thinks that his comments are inappropriate.
