Scalding price increases in transportation tickets

The new Athens transport services ticket prices were publicized this Wednesday in the Government Newspaper. The new prices will be in effect starting 1st of February.

The integrated ticket price will be 1.40 euro and will remain valid for 90 minutes in every transport service up to Koropi station. If the 90 minutes are up, passengers still en route to their destination will be required to validate their ticket again. The ticket will not be valid in the express lines towards the Airport or Saronida. The price of the reduced integrated ticket will be 0.70 euro.

To and from the airport

The ETHEL bus ticket for the Airport line is increased to 5 euro, whereas the reduced ticket will be 2.50 euro.

The Metro ticket to and from the El. Venizelos Airport is increased to 8 euros, while once more the half-ticket will be 4 euro. Dual and Triple tickets will be priced at 14 and 20 euro respectively. Return tickets for the airport will be at a standard of 14 euro. All the aforementioned tickets will remain valid for 90 minutes.

The Suburban Rail tickets will also be valid for 90 minutes. Monthly Metro cards to and from the airport will be priced at 140 Euros, while yearly cards will be 1000 euros.

Monthly and Yearly cards

The monthly bus card is priced at 20 euro while the reduced price is 10 euro. The monthly card for all transportation services will be priced at 45 euro, while the reduced price is 23.

The yearly bus, trolley and tram card will be priced at 200 euro whereas the yearly all-inclusive card will be priced at 450 euro.

According to sources, the OASA (railway) prices are also under discussion in order to provide certain social groups with a price reduction of 350 euro annually. More news on that is due to be announced soon.

Ticket Prices by Social Group

The right to bear a reduced price ticket will be given to:

-People over 65 years of age, based on their identity card information
-Children aged 7 to 12 years of age
-Students and University students possessing an OASA pass
-Young people aged 13 to 18, based on identity card information
-Students of Public and Private College insitutions operating legally, up to the age of 22,  based on identity card information
-Students of Open Universities operating legally, up to the age of 22
-Students of Foreign Universities, up to the age of 25, based on Student ID cards and identity card information
-Families of four children and above, based on their Family Card information

The right to pay no ticket for transportation will be given to:
-Children up to the age of 6
-People serving in any branch of the Armed Forces, based on military identity card information
-People in possession of a Special Needs card issued by the Ministry of Health.
