We lived through sheer hell

The first tourists to arrive from Cairo describe their ordeal on protothema.gr and mention their disappointment
"We saw death with our own eyes and the Greek state was not here!" they mentio,n stating that Greece was the only country that has not sent aircraft to evacuate its citizens.

The images they describe are horrid, and the fear and desperation they saw in the streets of Egypt is characteristic.

"It was very dangerous, especially at night, when you do not dare to go to the window, said Mr.Christos Naoum. Artillery tanks and aircraft make the scene even more frightening, said Mr.Andreadakis; that was there when the violent incidents started.

Furthermore, he describes scenes of chaos at the airport, where the sitatuon was absolultely out of control.

"Many people want to return but the situation is difficult since it is dangerous even to approach the airport. People have been waiting to leave since Saturday ", he added.

At the same time, the relatives' ordeal of waiting for news and a confirmation that their loved ones would be coming back, was also hard.
