Revelations as to how the State Treasury was operating and recording the course of the Greek economy, at least for 2001-2010, were made by vice minister Filippos Sachinidis during the meeting of the parliamentary Finance Committee.

Here follows the exact text, in which Sachinidis denounces the means whereby the financial data was collected:

«All the numbers that were produced as to what the result was of the general government from 2001 to 2010, were numbers that were entered completely at random. If anyone of those who were in an official position at the Treasury or ministers of Finance can come and prove me wrong, tell me that yes, we had official data».

The specific data reinforces the older intention of the government to proceed to an inquiry committee on the economy. It remains to be seen whether the intention will turn into action.
