They are waiting for initiatives from the PM next week

“Five blunders in one day are too many!”
The governmental vessel has hit a political storm as a series of mistakes by members of the cabinet have resulted in the manifestation of grave concern about the developing political climate, but also in criticism towards the leadership, and towards particular ministers.

The messages received by Maximou lately have been highly discouraging as to the mood of public opinion against the government, while many issues remain open and top government officials expect initiatives by Prime Minister George Papandreou to streamline and control the situation by next week.

In fact, the climate is so heavy in the parliamentary group because of the blunders of the ministers, that speaking in parliament, Apostolos Kaklamanis said that it would be better to go to elections.

The nightmarish thing for the government is that 5 blunders were made in just one day:

The first was about the circular for semi-open spaces that led to the apology of Interior vice minister Giorgos Dolios. Some say that the matter is not finished and that Dolios must be removed from the government.

The second was the palinodes of the Treasury about law firms, as shown by the articles of the bill for the deregulation of closed professions. Giorgos Papakonstantinou received strong criticism - and among other things, the declaration of the PASOK parliamentary spokesman Christos Protopapas that members of the party would not vote if the amendment did not change.

The third was about the introduction of a policing body for the economy, against which grave criticism was expressed by green MPs.

The fourth was the disagreement on diesel engines between Dimitris Reppas and Tina Birbili via public radio, which caused their condemnation by the chairman of the parliamentary Environment committee, Kostas Kartalis!

And the fifth blunder concerned the dispute between minister of Marine Affairs Giannis Diamantidis and his general secretary, whom he called upon to resign but to no avail (!).

Amidst all this, the Minister of Culture raised the issue of governmental communicatio n breakdown during a discussion with journalists, while Papandreou sought to support Papakonstantinou by asking him to coordinate certain issues concerning the implementation of critical policies and while the noise at the expense of the minister of Finance for the "for sale" sign to the tune of 50bil euro continues unabated.
