Heavy winter weather throughout the week

Overcast skies, rain, temperature drop and snow are the elements that make up the weather this week. The phenomena will be more powerful locally, with thunderstorms and strong winds in the Aegean.

Monday February 21. Rain, storms and local snowfall.

Local rain will occur in Attica and there will be storms during the night. The winds will be eastern-northeastern, 3-4B, and the temperature will range between 8-14C.

Rain and possibly storms will occur in Thessaloniki. The winds will be southeastern 4-5 and locally 6B and the temperature will not exceed 8C.

In Epirus, Ionian and the western mainland, cloud with sporadic rain are expected in the north and centre, while snow will fall on the northern mountains.

In Thessaly, the eastern mainland, Evia and East Peloponnisos, cloud with sporadic rain are expected, with chances of snow in the mountains.

In Cyclades and Crete local cloud will occur with chances of light sporadic rain. In the afternoon the cloud will increase and rain and storms will occur in the night, mainly in the Cyclades.

Tuesday February 22. Storms, snow and temporary improvement.

Cloud with rain and storms will occur mainly in the coastal areas of the country. The phenomena will be locally very strong and snow will fall on the mountins. There will be temporary improvement during the night and the winds in the west will be variable at 4B and in the north and the northeast. Normal temperature levels.

Wednesday February 23. Rain and storms.

Cloud is expected that will gradually increase and turn locally to rain and storms. Snow will fall on the central and northern mountain areas, winds will increase in the south of the country at 5B and the temperature will remain at the same levels.

Thursday February 24. Snow, temperature drop and stormy winds.

Worsening of the weather is expected with cloud, rain, sleet and snow, even in the central parts of the country. The winds in the west, centreerly  and north will be northern at 5-7 and locally 8B and south for the rest of the country at 4-6B. The temperature will drop.

Friday February 25. Snow and storms.

Cloud, temporarily increased, and local rain, storms and snow on the mountains will be the main characteristics. Aegean winds will be strong to stormy, snow will fall even in the lowlands and the temperature will drop further.
