The  Minister of Interior has made a request towards ministries and all relevant public bodies to not proceed with hiring of staff until of ministerial decisions have been issued on setting priorities to meet the needs which will be eventually authorised by both agencies and services.

Mr. Ragousis has issued the statement in order to keep control over recruitment planning and avoid altering the ratio of 5 terminations to 1 hiring within the public sector.

The statement applies to all who have successfully participated in the ASEP competitions and have not been appointed yet due to the hiring freeze.

Also underlined is the fact that the one to five ratio includes teachers, doctors, nurses and security forces.
In addition, the interior minister, seeking to avoid recruitment “slipping through the cracks” of the institutional framework, has dispatched the statement to both the National Printing Office as well as the General Secretariat of the Government, which controls the legality of essays. The order to the National Printing Office is to not publish the individual appointment acts in the Government Gazette.

Last but not least, the fact that there have been 16000 requests for permanent staff positions submitted for only 10.600 available positions is noteworthy, since the analogy of 1 to 5 must be kept.
