Road accident in Turkey with Greek victims

Four Greeks and one Turk were killed and five more were injured in a serious accident that occurred at 4.50am on the Ipsala-Konstantinoupoli road, at Malgara in Turkey.

It happened when a bus owned by Turkish company METRO, traveling from Athens to Konstantinoupoli, fell down a precipice under unknown circumstances.
Eye witnesses said on the local news that it fell down the 8m precipice probably due to extremely harsh weather conditions that limited visibility.
The Greek ambassador at Andrianoupoli, Mrs Paraskevi Tzivelekou, has undertaken the task of identifying the bodies and taking care of the injured, most of whom are at the Malgara public hospital.
According to early information, most of the passengers were of Greek nationality, coming from areas of the former Soviet Union.
