afternoon in Renti has angered the Hellenic Police and initiated an
unprecedented mobilisation.
The case is classified as highly important and thus has been personally taken up by H.P. generals, while the Citizen Protection minister returned unexpectedly from Ankara in order to be fully informed on the progress of the investigation.
The fact that the bloody pursuit which left two police officers dead happened just 24 hours before starting the annual Police assessment process, is forcing policy makers to clarify the matter immediately not only because it is a matter of honor for the force but also in terms of the outcome of KYSEA decisions.
Although the Counterterrorism Unit is not officially involved, Paputsis’s statements have fired up scenarios regarding the way this was done and the identity of the three armed men in the stolen grey Volvo.
«It is a strange case. We cannot explain how 50-euro kiosk thieves, therefore small time crooks, are driving around in a stolen Volvo that constantly changes plates, and carrying heavy weaponry. The mystery grows deeper due to the fact that with a cinematic move they stopped the vehicle to rain fire on the officers».
They are waiting for ballistics and fingerprints

Officials involved in the case hold two strong cards - one Kalashnikov and a handgun left behind by the criminals, but also the fingerprints on the car that are already being dusted off at the forensic labs.
"The results of these will show what we are dealing with. That is, if it is terrorists or criminals under ordinary penal law. Already we are looking for footage from traffic surveillance cameras to determine the route followed by the three perpetrators of the massacre» says a source from the Citizen Protection ministry to protothema.gr.
The police blocks and the information coming in have not really helped the police investigation; however officers say finding the criminals is their top priority as they are wandering around free carrying heavy weaponry and will surely fight for their lives.
