Tear gas and protests in Kolonaki

Tension and minor incidents occurred shortly before 14:00 in Koumbari Street, Kolonaki, between protesters and police forces. During the incident, a protester was seriously injured in the head.

As it became known by police, the protesters were marching from Syntagma Square towards the Ministry of the Interior, but were denied passage around Parliament. Due to this, the protesters ran through Panepistimiou, Kriezotou, Kanari and Academias in order to approach the ministry from the rear.

In Koumbari street, however, protesters attempted to break through the police blockade. Police forces used chemicals to repel them, but eventually the protesters ran through Vasilissis Sofias boulevard and reached the ministry, where council members had been meeting with Minister John Ragousis.

Around 14:30, the demonstrators dispersed without any other incidents occurring.
