There is a whole plan devised both by authorities in Athens and those of many big cities throughout the rest of the country, in order to counter possible popular condemnation and attacks against politicians.
Something similar was in effect during the commemoration of March 25th, while there were strong reactions in school parades in the capital as well as the provinces.
Thus, the outbreaks occurring in the recent months, culminating in the Keratea incident with Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Pagalos, have upset police officials who have set up plans in order to protect politicians visiting various areas.
"They have given clear instructions to specific departments to organize operational plans. There should be no scenes such as Keratea where squads of riot police guarded the deputy PM while he was eating souvlaki in a tavern. For this reason, we have even recalled the leaves of police officers serving in the areas that will be visited by the politicians".
A source spoke to protothema.gr, stressing that in particular dioceses, churches and major events, the measures will be kept out of sight, but will be ever-present.

"The information we have is that few politicians will eventually attend events. However, police should be alert and have taken the necessary steps, "stated a Citizen Protection Ministry source, adding that in the metropolis of Athens, for example, there will even be riot police squads at some distance."
