The PASOK Parliamentary Group proposal for a preliminary investigation committee for the submarine scandal has been voted for.

A total of 250 MPs voted. 226 voted for, 9 against, 9 present, 9 blanks and 5 votes were annulled.
The preliminary investigation committee will have 13 members, while a letter by Leader of the House Mr. Philip Petsalnikos will be sent out today to all party leaders so that they can in turn choose their representatives, who will become committee members.

The final reports must be delivered by June 6th, 2011, but the deadline is bound to be extended.

Before the vote, from the floor of the Parliament session hall, Akis Tsohatzopoulos gave his own answers about the submarine scandal. In his speech, the former Minister denied all accusations leveled against him concerning the case of the German submarine deals, and he made heavy accusations against PASOK and New Democracy members, who wanted to turn the House into a “Colloseum” and himself into a “convenient culprit”, as he characteristically said.
