The issue of a new extension of the 110-billion debt from the Troika is being discussed by the Finance Minister. Mr. Papakostantinou, commenting in the French newspaper Liberation, has comfirmed that “an extension of the debt is being examined” clarifying that there has not been an official request by our country and it does not refer to a full restructure of the Greek debt.

Since Greece has shown that is able to sort out its finances, it would be useful in the future to have a new decision for the extension of the period for paying off the 110 billion euros, in the sense that there will be a better settlement towards the Troika.

Talking to the French newspaper, Mr.Papakostantinou repeated that the Greek debt is viable and there is no need for restructuring.

“There are peoplewho think that restructuring is inevitable, but there are also those that have placed bets on Greece’s bankruptcy. This explains the ridiculous rumours of the last days”, he emphasized. He also appeared certain that restructuring is not needed during the three-year plan he presented when announcing the fight against tax evasion.
