A very grave incident occurred today in Parliament with unbelievable accusations and an exchange of expletives between Mr. Vangelis Meimarakis and LAOS. This follows what happened in today’s meeting of the Committee of Defense Military Equipment, when LAOS leader Mr.Karatzaferis accused Mr. Meimarakis of being part of the submarine scandal.

During the meeting Mr Meimarakis found out that LAOS MP and former head of Secret Services, Mr.Korantis, was the one giving out the information that Mr. Meimarakis was involved in the scandal. Mr.Meimarakis sat behind him and when Mr. Korantis turned and said good morning, Mr. Meimarakis (according to information from his side) “F… you, as…le, how dare dare you say good morning to me! I don’t want any contact with you, not even good morning”.

The second version coming from Mr. Korantis' circle, harsher. “You dare tell ME good morning, you punk! You that wants to take me to court? You F..ing as…le. Lets take it outside! I am going to f… you up.”

Mr
. Korantis remained seated and stunned. A few minutes later he sent an official letter to the President of Parliament Mr.Petsalnikos, and consequently made comments to the journalists mentioning the vulgar attack by Mr. Meimarakis, saying that the man is confused.

When Mr.Korantis was asked as to whether there is evidence of Mr. Meimarakis' involvement, he replied that “I operate as any MP should. Mr. Meimarakis is either scared or imagining things. I always operate according to the law.”

Apart from the very embarrassing incident between Mr.Meimarakis and LAOS which is turning into a vendetta, there will be a press conference with the leader of LAOS MR. Karatzaferis later on today in reference to all these issues. Minister Venizelos has agreed on new resposnibilites for the Committee that could also have more legal responsibilities when conducting inquests.
