Mr. Lucas Papademos seems to be taking a more active role in further developments in the country’s relations with the Troika.

The Prime Minister called a special meeting with the former banker at his office in parliament when the latter returned to Athens from Frankfurt, where he visited the headquarters of the European Central Bank.

The Prime Minister’s adviser on economic issues is expected to inform the Prime Minister on the views of Jean-Claude Trichet on the “non-restructuring” of the Greek debt.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will request his opinion on additional measures of seven billion euros this year, but also on the medium-term program of austerity amounting up to 26 billion by 2015, which will be presented by Mr. Papakonstantinou during the cabinet meeting next week, in order to ensure the next installment as well as additional funding that Greece needs from the Troika.
