"We will evaluate them and see"

The times of Andreas Papandreou came to mind after Mr.Pangalos’s comments on the fate of 7,000 public servants who work in 75 organizations of the Public Services that are to be merged.

At those times, Andreas Papandreou was the target of criticism when the American military bases remained in Greece, as before the elections he had promised the opposite.  
 
And now, the Vice-President of the government has made it clear that 7,000 public servants in specific organizations “will not be dismissed, but will be evaluated”.
 
This issue had in the past created a rift between prominent members of PASOK and the Minister of Finance Mr.Papakostantinou; when he was crystal clear there will be dismissals, Minister of Internal Affairs Mr.Ragousis was talking about evaluations.

The new mergers will be announced in October, whilst the employees will undergo the ASEP testing evaluation.
 
Among the organizations that will be merged are KED, ETHIAGE, National Foundation of Youth, Greek Tourist Property, National Television, IGME, Themis Construction and EOMMEX.  
 

Mr.Pangalos mentioned that the government is trying to save 2,7 billion euros, adding that the mergers were already included in the PASOK policies even before the elections (those that were publicly announced).
