The mid-term program is giving ND a headache as well

While the government is shaken by the initiative of its 16 MPs who are asking not to submit the mid-term plan in the form of an article and that it won’t pass as urgent, Ms Elsa Papadimitriou said that she will vote according to her conscience.

Antonis Samaras has stated that New Democracy will vote on the principle of the mid-term plan and has asked the government not to submit it for voting in the form of a budget. ND members avoided making any comment on Ms Papadimitriou’s stance.

The directive toward the MPs is clear, along with what is at stake. It is clear that if Papadimitriou votes in favor of the mid-term, she will be dismissed from the party, just like her friend Dora Bakogianni was last year when she voted in favor of the memorandum.

The team at Syggrou avenue is trying to downgrade the Papadimitriou issue in order to maintain the attention in the government and the initiative of its MPs. Since the problem is in PASOK, they don’t want to seem like they’re experiencing intra-party problems too.

Meanwhile, the war with Karatzaferis continues. A day after Samaras’ statement, “Mr Papandreou, give a ministry to Karatzaferis so we can all relax”, governmental representative Kostas Markopoulos raised the issue of Karatzaferis’ personal property, while he likened the LAOS chairman to Georgalas of the junta era.

On his part, Karatzaferis is in a difficult spot and after his threat to withdraw his MPs in order to create the need for elections, he is seeking the proper way to retreat.
