"Papakonstantinou's policies will not change"

The need for the new Finance Minister to immediately proceed with measures which will enhance market liquidity was highlighted by the New Democracy party, making it clear however that it expects Evangelos Venizelos to change his predecessor’s policies.

In a statement by the representative of the party, John Michelakis, Mr Venizelos was asked:

- To take direct initiatives in exploiting the opportunities offered by the European Investment Bank or the World Bank, which has been requested for some time now by the chairman of the New Democracy party.
- To proceed once more with the concessions, among which there are five major highways, which have been halted so far
- To accelerate the fund absorption of ESPA
- To regulate the continued provision of guarantees for the Greek banking system by the ECB for at least another year, so that this can benefit the real economy.
