Tsohatzopoulos facing trial

Mr Tsohatzopoulos is now at the hands of the Court since he is being referred to justice after the Questioning Committee decided to go through with indicting the former Minister.

In relation to the Minister being indicted, 216 MPs voted for, 9 against and 7 declared “present”. On the accusation of him "laundering" illegal profits there were 215 for, 9 against and 8 present.

The results are proof  that the majority of MPs have been persuaded by the evidence presented in Parliament, which sheds light on the offenses of indirect bribery and of legalizing illegal profits.

However it is important to clarify  that the most logical solution - according to former Minister of Justice Mr.Kastanidis- is that the charges do not fall under the law of “Ministerial Liability” so that the former Minister can go on trial following normal procedures.

Therefore, under these circumstances there are two scenarios – the first one says that the Inquiry Committee is going to accept Mr. Kastanidis' interpretation and indict Mr.Tsohatzopoulos.

The other solution is that they will accept his offenses under the law of “Ministerial Liability” and then send Mr.Tsohatzopoulos to the Special Court and there is a small chance his offenses could fall under the statute of limitations.
