Not one, not two, but at least three Greek islands are the target of a Turkish businessman’s prospective purchases. The individual in question is Fiyari construction company chairman, Fikret Inan.

In a recent interview in the Zaman newspaper, Inan revealed that he is in negotiations with real estate brokers in order to purchase the islets of Lihnari, Kaltsonisi, Mikri Amorgos, Kardiotissa, Nafsika and Vouvalo, which all occupy an area from 10.000 up to two million square meters.

The Turkish businessman also mentioned that he intends to build resorts on the islands, while he also seems to aim to connect them with Turkish islands through ferries!

Recently, he bought a medium-sized Turkish island (400 sq. km) for over 35 million dollars, off the coast of Izmir, where he plans to build luxury hotels and villas.

He estimates the cost of the islands will range between 3 and 20 million and intends to invest around 80 million euros, while he declares that he is determined to establish a subsidiary company in Greece.

In the interview, he did not hesitate to state that there will be reactions in Greece, but he seemed confident about the positive attitude of the Greek authorities’ own reactions.

Fikret Inan also stated that if other Turkish businessmen pursue this strategy and buy Aegean islands, Turkey will have easier access to Europe.
