One tax every ten days until the end of the year

A new tax every week, or at most every ten days, will be levied on the majority people from now up until the end of the year, according to the new tax measures contained within the medium-term plan.

Already beginning this month, employees over 30 and retirees up to 65 years of age with monthly salaries of 650 and above will see a reduction in their salaries or pensions. Almost every month, 2-3 notices will be sent out for the payment of taxes, especially to those owning properties.

Specifically, the medium-term tax storm which is coming for taxpayers will develop as follows:

July
-The increased tax deduction (from 25 euros per month) to wages and pensios, due to the reduction in the tax-free threshold from 12,000 euros to 8000, will begin this month.

-Cheap cigarettes will cost up to 40 cents more by the end of July. Smokers will buy them for 2.80 and up to 3 euros.

-Traders operating taxis and using LPG as motor fuel are already burdened with an increased excise duty due on the price of fuel, from 12.5 cents to 20 per kilo.

-Within the month, OGA pensions will be cut by 6%.


August

-By the end of August, the missives for the payment of the special contribution will begin arriving at taxpayers’ doorsteps who have declared incomes over 12.000.

-In August, the first 10.500 notices for outstanding debts will arrive at the homes of the 900.000 people who still owe money to the public sector.

-In late August to early September, the salary statements will be sent so that around 1.000.000 self-employed individuals and traders can pay a new trade tax of 300 euros.

-In August or September, a new levy of 3% - 14% will be added to pensions of over 1700 euros. There will be αdditional reductions of 6% if the pensioner is under 60.


September

-From September on, notices will be sent to owners of cars over 1929 cc and up to 10 years old, owners of luxury boats as well as to all who own pools, so that they can pay an extra tax of 5% on evidence on standard of living.

-From September 1st, VAT will be increased from 13% to 23% for all soft drinks, juices, carbonated bottled water and all served goods in restaurants, pizzerias, grills and cafes.

-From September 1st, natural gas prices will also be higher. They will be burdened by an extra tax for consumption of 1.5 per Gigajoule, amounting to 50 euros a year.


October

-Heating oil will cost 5-6 cents more per liter from the 15th of October onwards, due to the tax rise.

-Heating oil will cost 50 cents more per liter for businesses.

November

-Increased vehicular tax charges of up to 12.5%+ for 2012 for every car owner who will have to settle them between November and December 2011.

-If the GSIS manages to find the time, it will send out statements for property tax either in November or December.

-The installments and payments commence for those who can “arrange” a settlement for illegally built houses.

December

-By December, the ETAK of 2009 is expected to be complete, only if the problem is solved with the private company which has taken on the clearing and envelopment of notices is solved.

Moreover, any other extra tax not already levied upon citizens will also arrive during that time.
