Extreme heat continues

The temperature is expected to reach 41C on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in a lot of regions, increasing the citizens’ discomfort.

Experts recommend keeping calm and abiding by some basic rules for an effective handling of the first major heat wave of this summer.  

Monday

Weather: sunshine around the country with overcast skies in the northern continental regions during midday and afternoon.

Winds: variable at 2-4B, northwestern at 3-5 in the high seas and 6 in the south.

Temperature: 21-36C in northern Greece, 28-38 in central and southern Greece, 23-35 in western Greece, 25-32 in the Sporades, Cyclades and Crete. The maximum temperature in eastern Aegean and southern Crete will reach 37C.

Winds will be locally strong in the southern and eastern Aegean, northwestern moderate and locally strong in the Ionian.
 

Tuesday

Weather: mild with locally overcast skies in the afternoon in the northern continental regions.

Winds: low, northern-northwestern at 3-5B in the high seas and locally 6 in Aegean.

Temperature: minor increase, will reach 40C locally in the east.
 

Wednesday

Weather: mild and warm in general, with locally overcast skies at midday and afternoon in the continental regions, with chances of transient showers in the northern mountains.

Winds: western at 4-6B in the west and south at 3-5B in the rest of the country.

Temperature: minor further increase, will reach 41C locally in the eastern continental regions.
