Taxi drivers are extending their strike until Friday

Their 48hr strike would have normally ended at 5am on Tuesday; however, owners and drivers have decided to extend it until Friday.

Taxi owners are renewing their rendezvous for Tuesday 10am outside their offices in Marnis str, leaving open the possibility of a march towards Syntagma. Traffic in Marnis has been cut off at Vathi square.

For Wednesday, they plan on rallying outside the Infrastructure ministry.

Protests around the country

Taxi drivers in Ilia are protesting too, blocking the port of Katakolo.

Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” is blocked at both of its entrances, while about 12.000 tourists are expected on chartered flights, who will probably be forced to drag their luggage to their hotels.

Taxi drivers in Rethymno have blocked the Regional Unification building since early on Tuesday morning.

In Thessaloniki they have surrounded “Macedonia” airport, while taxi drivers have also blocked the port of Patra and the Araxos airport in Kato Achaia.
