Transport minister: “I will move forward with the sector’s deregulation”
Transport minister Yannis Ragoussis told the PASOK Parliamentary Labour Department (CTD) of Transport that he is willing to continue the dialogue with the taxi drivers until the beginning of October and let the party MPs know he is expecting their proposals on the matter within the coming month.

All MPs accepted the offer and will present their ideas in the given time framework, while at the same time no new taxi licenses will be issued until the
problem is solved. However, most MPs asked for new rules to be set - as far
as the profession is concerned - with the relevant spokesman of the CTD appealing
to cabbies to end their strike and make a free-from-threats dialogue.
Conflict with Reppas reaches “finishing line”
The former and present ministers of Transport put an end to rumours that they are on bad terms on the issue of the taxi sector deregulation. It is said that during a recent cabinet meeting, the two had the chance to discuss their differences in a good climate and reach a truce.
During the meeting of the PASOK CDT there were voices both in support and critical of Ragoussis’ stance and handling of the situation and the taxi strike.
