Rhodes sees increase in travelers choosing it for their summer break

Tourist arrivals on the island of Rhodes and the entire Dodecanese complex in July 2011 rose to corresponding levels with the same month last year.

In particular, tourist arrivals at Rhodes airport increased by 20.77% in comparison with July 2010.

The top “pilgrims” are British tourists, with tourists from Germany in second place. Both have recorded an 11.22% increase, followed by Italian visitors - in third place - with a record increase of 38.94%.

Arrivals from Scandinavian countries also indicated a noteworthy increase, with a total of 70,000 tourists from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The highest increase in arrivals, however, was marked by Russian holiday makers, with 53.72% more of them visiting the island compared to the July 2010 arrivals from the same destination. Polish people also showed a greater - than last year’s - preference for Rhodes with arrivals having risen by 43.10%.
