Due to his upcoming concert in Istanbul George Dalaras, the famed Greek singer, has given an interview to Turkish newspaper Hyrriyet which has raised some eyebrows.

“People are born to live together. We have lived next to each other for thousands of years. If we fly a bit higher, we won't be seeing the lines and borders on a map” he said characteristically.

And he continued by saying “Maps are printed and defined by topographers, planners and mathematicians. God does not have a printing factory. Some say that the Aegean it belongs to Greeks, others that it belongs to the Turks. In reality, the Aegean sea belongs to the fish”.

The singer also mentioned the Cyprus problem and noted that the problems come from three sides - Greece, Turkey and England.

He was also asked which he thinks is the source of the pain in Cyprus. Mr Dalaras said that he considers fundamentalists to be responsible, since they become fanatical about religion.
