Tax proof in, 23% on mass catering - hotels in and out

After the endless reactions to the high taxation the government planned to impose on restaurants and hotels, sources from inside leadership circles have revealed to Proto Thema newspaper that high-ranking officials are ready to take it back.

It is probable that the 23% tax which regards the aforementioned sector might be valid until the end of the year. If this is true, it is an announcement that is likely to be made by the premier himself at the TIF.

Also, another “hot” measure that is troubling the government and is under discussion is the big comeback of the objective criteria related to businesses and freelancers.

The new taxation system is expected to kick off from 2012 onwards and will concern 2011 incomes.

All changes mentioned will be put on the table today during the meeting of the FinMin, Evangelos Venizelos, with the social partners. Announcements have been planned for 3p.m. local time.
