New discomfort lies in store for passengers today, Friday, as the unions of workers in the metro and electric rail have decided to go on a 24-hour strike protesting against persecutions which, as they report in their announcement, their employees have been subjected to as part of the transfers provided for by the bill for the consolidation of urban transport, as well as the failure to introduce the new organizational structure of the metro company and carry out the signing of new collective labor agreement.

Thus, these two popular means of public transportation, which serve hundreds of thousands of passengers daily, will remain immobilized for Friday 02/09/2011.

Please note that there will be no service on the electric rail for this weekend on the section between Piraeus and Omonia due to ongoing renovation work. As announced by OASA, passengers will have to use the X23 “Piraeus (Karaiskaki Square) – Omonia" bus line.

The starting point of the line will be at Karaiskaki Square and the terminus at Athinas Street, between Omonia Square and Lycourgou str. Routes will run normally in the section between Omonia-Kifissia.
