21-year-old dies during hooligan riots in Crete

Police say that more than 30 persons were involved in a hooligan case in Crete that has caused great shock to the local community in the prefecture of Irakleion..

Police say that more than 30 persons were involved in a hooligan case in Crete that has caused great shock to the local community in the prefecture of Irakleion and has resulted in the death of a young man of 21, who was stabbed violently during a pre-arranged “death meeting”.  

The hooligans were supporters of the OFI, Herodotus and Panathinaikos FCs and met in the early hours of Monday.

The situation got out of hand and apart from the dead man there are also two more people who are heavily injured, with one of them hospitalized in critical condition.

Moreover, the riots involved two motorcycles that were set on fire near the local football stadium.

The police are looking into the case and have already made several arrests.
