"One million employees affect 10 million people"

A description of the situation in the Greek public sector was attempted by Health Minister Andreas Loverdos, who unleashed an attack against phenomena such as bureaucracy and civil servants.

Furthermore, speaking to the Parliament’s Health Committee, Mr. Loverdos said “I consider bureaucrats as my enemies. I know my enemy… 1 million employees that affect 10 million with the assurance that work in the public sector is for life; this has gotten us to where we are. Ten million people pay for one million. This must have its own enemies…”

The Minister continued by saying that the root of all evil lies in the Constitution. “The current constitution is the Maginot Line of bureaucracy”.

“Whoever believes that they can bring about policies without defeating the Greek public sector is being misled”. The Leftists spoke like that, stating that “In the post-junta Greece, life is only worth it if you are a leftist. If you are not, they will finish you off within 15 days. Whatever happened in Greece during the civil war was reversed after the regime change”.
