“Rent” needed even if home is ours!

The possibility of permanently paying a tax for our properties is still being left open by the government according to a new law amendment the FinMin Evangelos Venizelos presented in parliament.

The minister explained the measure will certainly be on for the years 2011-12, while after this time it will be included in the overall taxation regulations citizens will have to follow.

The measure leaves out the long-term unemployed but again, under particular financial conditions.

Also exempted are the families with three or more children and invalids with an annual income either less than, or up to 30,000 euros.

Voting on the new tax has been postponed for the coming Tuesday as four PASOK MPs were absent. This occasion proves that there are major inter-party problems, even disputes, as many members are even considering voting down the measures.
