GENOP PPC proceeded to occupy the printing offices which will print the bills of PPC. The unionists warned they will remain there as long as necessary to prevent the electricity bills from being printed.
Their announcement reads: “Electricity is a social good and cannot be used as blackmail leverage against the unemployed, the poor and the jobber. PPC and GENOP workers will not allow poor fellow citizens to remain without electricity.”
Environment Minister George Papaconstantinou said in a statement: "Nobody is entitled to play games that can impact the country negatively in today's extremely critical juncture", and called upon GENOP-PPC to leave the building immediately, while he has given explicit instructions to the management of PPC to seek the intervention of the prosecutor.
