We will pay 3 types of capitation tax simultaneously!

The State wants to quickly snatch half of whatever income (provided they still have their jobs) Greek citizens are going to earn in 2012.

To achieve this, the finance ministry invented a new “blood draining machine”: it will impose income taxes that will reach even 60% of annual earnings!

Having decimated the tax-free limit from this year, it will make taxpayers pay two or three additional capitation taxes together, thus decimating their income as well. Any leftovers the State will seek to grab with indirect taxes, special contributions, taxes on property, etc.

The trick that is being set up will be described in the amendment that the finmin will submit to parliament today. According to sources in the ministry, it will be established that from 01.01.2012 we will pay the special contribution in advanced installments, along with the monthly withholding of tax carried out by the accounting departments of  companies.

And they will not only pay for 2012, but also - in the middle of 2012 - for the incomes and special contributions of 2011 that will be included in the tax statement of 2011. About 2mil tax payers will have to pay the special contribution implemented on the 2010 incomes!

The amendment also provides that those who will have an income from other sources in 2012, apart from their wages, will pay an additional amount of special contribution in 2013. They will be asked to do so with the settlement of the 2012 income tax in mid-2013.

And as if all this were not enough, it is estimated that the witholding of tax will increase in 2012 for freelance professionals and those who are paid with receipts (from the current 20% to 25-30%). As tradesmen, they will also have to pay the 500-euro annual penalty in 2012.

The robbery in numbers

The big losers will be those with children, those with incomes of over 100.000 euros per year (losing more than half their annual income) and of course those who are already finding it hard to make ends meet, with very low incomes in the range of 20.000-30.000 euros per year.
