All eyes are set on Brussels and startling internal developments are expected, closely related to the “messages” the European leaders will send to Greece from the Belgium Summit.

The Greek premier George Papandreou is awaiting an agreement which will sound positive to the people and above all to the ears of the PASOK voters-supporters. According to the latest polls, the latter category is showing signs of deep and acute disbelief towards a once highly appreciated party and as a result, its political power is thinning out.
In contrast, if the expectations created by the July 21st agreement are belied, then what will follow in the main political scene of the country will be shocking and all possibilities will be open.
Governmental sources say nobody should rule out the possibility of a coalition government proposal which could be made anew by the premier to the main opposition leader, Antonis Samaras. The same sources underline that the PASOK leadership is practically unable to cope with the burden of the harsh measures imposed by the European advisers.
Furthermore, it is possible that the Brussels agreement come to a vote in parliament but with a broader majority limit of 180 MPs. That would be a development which would follow the Greek people’s wish for a referendum, but still not an early confrontation. Nonetheless, many leading figures of the party remain skeptical when it comes to that case.
