Today’s cabinet meeting is expected to be a long one since its conclusion might come after midnight.
According to initial information, Papandreou appeared determined to pursue the line mapped out in his speech to the Parliamentary Group of PASOK.
He said "We proceed normally, we move on with our work," insisting on his decision for a referendum, adding that all will be judged this Friday.
According to information, the PM noted that he expected the reactions this decision would lead to, since the new agreement for Greece, and especially the haircut, step on prejudicial interests which would react with great intensity. He spoke of "furious" reaction by bankers and big debtors, as they see their interests being treaded upon.
According to the same information, after the PM came Dimitris Reppas, Michalis Chrysochoidis, Christos Papoutsis, Christos Reppas, Panos Beglitis and Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, who supported Papandreou and insisted that the government should faithfully abide by the "roadmap" as described by the PM at the parliamentary group meeting.
Government sources stressed that the three ministers did not make a reference to the independence of Milena Apostolakis, nor the overwhelming developments occurring within the party, and that’s because "everything will be institutionally judged this Friday during the vote of confidence."
It should be noted that Andreas Loverdos, Yannis Ragkousis and Anna Diamantopoulou have also asked to take the stand.
