Papademos facing the first government crisis

Lucas Papademos will attempt to look ahead and move past the imperfections of his government today at the cabinet meeting. Seeing his ministers quarreling about the time of elections or being divided into current and former, he will present his reading on the state of things:

6. The stakes are very high, so no minister and no political party should endanger them. And this should be clear.

7. All ministers will be evaluated on their participation.

8. There is no issue about any minister. It is obvious that the PM is responsible for assessing them and acting accordingly.

9. The government’s lifespan is determined by its work. As long as it takes to complete the work it has undertaken.

10. There is no alternative. Otherwise the PSI and the country’s stay in the euro are in danger.
