Problems in shipping routes due to bad weather

The adventure of the crew of the Russian flag cargo ship, which had been stranded in Preveza since Tuesday, finally had a happy ending.

The crew was trapped because of the high winds and the rough weather. Just after 4pm a helicopter from Elefsina gathered everybody up and brought them safely to land.

According to information on pamepreveza.gr, they will be transported to Aktio and then to the Preveza Hospital.

Problems with shipping routes throughout the country

The departure ban that had come into force on shipping routes departing from Piraeus was lifted late in the afternoon; however, routes to the Cyclades were not operational in the morning.

A departure ban applied to hydrofoil routes in Argosaronikos, while it also continues to apply for routes in Rio-Antirio and for ships departing from Lavrion.

Leaving Rafina and heading for the Cyclades, “Penelope” reached as far as Andros, while the morning route from Lavrio to Kea and Kythnos was not operational.

The ferry line between Lefkimmi-Igoumenitsa remains closed.
