According to protothema.gr sources, the issue of a further tax increase will be discussed during one of the two cabinet meetings, either on Wednesday or Thursday. Already, the relevant office has sent its proposition to the relevant minister (of Environment, Energy and Climate Change) Yiorgos Papaconstantinou and until now the increase is probably said to be at 12%; that is, about 8 to 9 euros for every 1000 KWh.

The power bills are said to change mainly because of the increased prices of petrol in connection to the use the Greek Power Corporation is making and the - financial - “holes” that have to be covered.

Nevertheless, sources are saying that the increase should not be greater than 10%, at the same time examining possible scenarios of a one-digit increase. In any case, since the new levy-measure is way too harsh, it was decided it should pass through and be ratified by the cabinet.

During the same meetings, the prospect of selling certain power plants to other ones in Florina, Amyntaio or Megalopolis will also be discussed.
