LAOS decided to remain in the governmental scheme although the Justice ministry bill connected to relieving prisons of the large number of inmates does not correspond with what party leaders have agreed on, said LAOS head Yiorgos Karatzaferis.

According to him, he will remain in the scheme because the situation is critical and his party supports this government and the premier, Lucas Papademos.

Nevertheless, he said the relevant bill should have never been table since it was agreed it would not be, especially during such rough times when the country has different needs.

However, he stressed his party would immediately leave the government if, finally, another law concerning drug legalization is passed.

Speaking about the Loverdos-Venizelos “pact”, Karatzaferis said he wants a safe leadership in this unity government and is not interested in how and where PASOK will find its new head.

Apart from those participating in the government, the LAOS meeting at the party headquarters was also attended by Polatidis and Chryssanthekopoulos.
