“I won’t vote in favour, if Papademos wants to, he can keep us in the scheme”

“I will not vote for the measures”. “I explained to Papademos that if he wants to, he can let LAOS ministers remain in the government”. The LAOS head openly showed his fury against the lenders’ representatives and strongly criticized their stance concerning the Greek problem.

“I will not vote for the measures”. “I explained to Papademos that if he wants to, he can let LAOS ministers remain in the government”.

Saying also that he is fully backed by his party members, LAOS president Yiorgos Karatzaferis used the aforementioned statement to clarify he will not vote in favour of the new memorandum in parliament this Sunday.

When asked at the presser whether this means that his MPs will not vote for the measures either, he explained that if a matter of discipline crops up then each one will vote according to his conscience…

The LAOS head openly showed his fury against the lenders’ representatives and strongly criticized their stance concerning the Greek problem.

He stressed he will not accept the humiliation of the country “even if I have to starve”.

Karatzaferis clarified that Greece’s position is inside the EU, at the same time underlining that it could not survive outside it. Instead, he said that it could make it “away from the German boot”.

Although he has already agreed to the Troika terms as it became known after the termination of a successful meeting of the political leaders with the Greek premier a few nights ago, he now insists that he is not fully convinced of the legitimacy of the new memorandum and if it goes along the lines of the local legal system and its institutions.

Karatzaferis underlined that the memorandum covers and secures the rights of the lenders and those of the bankers, not the ones of Greece, and asked himself “which way we would be able to achieve development” if our future is not safeguarded.

Finally, he believes there is no issue of default, characteristically saying that, “if Greece goes down then the entire Europe will sink, too”. On top of that, he added that he is asking for a five-year grace period and the same interest rates as the ones of the ECB.
