LAOS ministers step down

According to information, the resignation of four ministers from LAOS was made available to PM Mr. Lucas Papademos, after the statements of party president, Mr. George Karatzaferis.

These ministers concern the Minister of Infrastructure Giorgos Voridis, Deputy Maritime Minister Adonis Georgiadis, replacement Minister of Defense Mr. Giorgos Georgiou and Deputy Minister of Rural Development Mr. Asterios Rontoulis.

The PM himself stated, according to protothema.gr, that “there is no place in the government for those who do not vote for the measures”.

Earlier, while giving a press conference, LAOS president Mr. Giorgos Karatzaferis stated “I will not vote for the measures… I told Mr. Papademos that if he wants to, he can keep the LAOS ministers in the government”.

Mr. Karatzaferis added that he has the full backing of the LAOS parliamentary group.

The development will obviously dominate the cabinet, which is meeting at 6pm , with a government reshuffle now being certain.
