With the coalition “creaking” due to the internal vortex which has
overwhelmed the Parliamentary groups of PASOK and ND, began the most
crucial session in recent years, which will decide the country’s future.
Before the meeting the swearing in of new members Anastasia Klavdianou, Christos Gokas and Anna Vagena took place, replacing Dimitris Varvarigos, Paul Stasinos and Pemi Zouni.
Note that the new package of measures entered the House with a classification of "urgent", which means that during the debate only the PM, the FM, political party leaders, the proponents of the bill and the parliamentary representatives are entitled to declare their stance.
Furthermore, while Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos explained the reasons which require the government to bring this bill to fruition and while he was trying to explain what default actually means, the Communist Party MPs were outraged, and MP Giorgos Mavrikos launched the 630-page Memorandum volume in the air.
Mr. Venizelos, in strong language, stated that: “You want to drive this country to disaster. The picture with Mr. Mavrikos will go around the world and make us an international laughing stock”.
The speakers and parliamentarians will follow on the podium. The political leaders and the PM will intervene when they and if they so wish. According to information, Mr. Venizelos will start speaking again after 7pm.

The duration of the debate under Standing Orders may not exceed 10 hours, and thus the vote is expected to start at midnight.
Already, it is estimated that forty PASOK and ND members will stand against the Memorandum, saying they will not be supporting it, while LAOS MPs will not vote for it either, except Messrs. Voridis and Georgiadis.
