The
risk of a government reshuffle, even a limited one, disorienting the
government and public opinion from the effort to avoid default was the
main concern at Maximos Mansion.
According to protothema.gr information, the PM informed his colleagues that he will keep Makis Voridis in his place and will not fill the remaining vacant positions of all those who quit. Besides, the time remaining until elections is minimal.
Lucas Papademos reached this decision after speaking with PASOK and ND leaders and then with Makis Voridis.
Government sources state that both George Papandreou and Antonis Samaras told the PM that they would support him on any decision and ultimately agreed with his choice.
A communique with Makis Voridis followed in order to avoid the reshuffle. “It is not a time for oaths and ceremonies”, a partner of Lucas Papademos stated.
