The profiles of the two masked robbers, who invaded the old museum of
Ancient Olympia on Friday morning and seized 65 exhibits, are being
drawn up by security officials. “We want to build their profiles to know
who we are hunting” says the police officer involved in the
investigation, and adds:
“Until now we have set up roadblocks and checked cars without actually knowing who we are pursuing”. From the CCTV frames, the two robbers’ movements are clearly visible, and cross-checked with the deposition of the 47- year-old:
One of them is definitely a foreigner and speaks Greek with an accent, while the other is either Greek or a foreigner who speaks Greek fluently.
Cameras showed that one was tall, around 1.87m, and burly, while his accomplice was 1.70 to 1.75, slimmer and with common features.
The frames showed that they were not wearing the same clothes. One wore a camouflage outfit while the other wore dark clothes.
They were not very calm and looked completely out of their depth concerning anything to do with professional robberies on archaeological sites, which was demonstrated when they failed to ascertain with the museum keeper where the objects they wanted to steal were. They lost control and began breaking into whatever they could find, before grabbing the final 65 exhibits.

During the whole robbery, which lasted seven minutes, they never got rid of their hoods, which does not allow prosecutors to have a clear picture.
Security officials pulled old case files of vicious robberies in an attempt to identify common features with the robbery at Ancient Olympia, a process that takes time and gives the robbers the chance to erase all traces.
