The Pharmaceutical Association of Athens finally decided to be a little
more flexible and not go on strike on Thursday and Friday in Athens and
Piraeus, but instead discontinue providing medicines on credit to those insured in the funds which are in debt.
Pharmacies in the rest of the country will remain closed.
In a joint meeting last night, the two associations decided to diversify their stance from the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, which declared a 48-hour warning strike across the country on Thursday and Friday, 8th and 9th March, reacting among other things to the deregulation of pharmacy opening times and the reduction of the profit rate.
One of the proposals of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association is an appeal to the ECJ and the European Commission for the debts of the insurance funds to pharmacies.
