The
parliament committee on property statements is referring LAOS MP
Kyriakos Velopoulos, Isidore Kouvelos and former MEPs Giorgos
Dimitrakopoulos (ND) and Konstantinos Droutsas (KKE), to the appeals
prosecutor in relation to cash remittances they sent abroad.
Kouvelos is being referred for the undeclared bank account in London where the 1 million dollars ended up, Dimitrakopoulos because he "forgot" to submit a property statement, and Velopoulos for transferring 200,000 euros to Germany.
Chairman Evangelos Argyris said that 24 property statements were checked in the financial year 2011 (usage in 2010) for remittances that were sent abroad. After the submission of the findings by the auditors, the committee decided unanimously that:
- the statements by Kouvelos, Velopoulos and Droutsas were found insufficient without augmentation of assets
- Dimitrakopoulos’ statement was overdue. It was checked and did not show augmentation of personal assets.
