Students’ rude gestures keep on coming

From what we saw in today's national celebration for March 25th, other students decided to follow in the footsteps of the young student from Larissa who, during the parade of October 28th, directed his open palm towards the official platform, causing a nationwide stir.

At least two cases in Patras with students who participated in today's parade were recorded by a camera rudely gesturing by showing their open palm to officials on the stage, thus demonstrating the feelings of indignation pervasive in almost all young people.

The new pictures are going round the media and might not be accepted by commentators, but are deified on the internet.

Today's military parade in Syntagma for the celebration of the anniversary of March 25th, 1821, lasted less than 40 minutes. And it might have been guarded well by police, but incidents and tension were present in several other Greek cities.

The parade in Thessaloniki began with a delay of 10 minutes. Workers, teachers, members of SYRIZA and non-parliamentary leftist organizations gathered at the parade site, on the Alexander the Great coastal highway, shouting slogans against the government and the memorandum. Incidents occurred before the start of the parade in Patras, Chania, Piraeus, Larisa and other cities.

And in Heraklion, the episodes and the use of chemicals by the police led to the stopping of the parade which eventually did not start again despite calls even by the Archbishop.
