Venizelos: “The goal is to come first”

Unity, renewal and meritocracy are but a few of the things the president of PASOK asked his colleagues for during his speech at the party’s political council.

Venizelos noted that the party's soul is great and this is why it will need to be in harmony with the body. He made clear that the party’s main goal is to finish first after the election race, something towrads which a huge fight will need to be fought both to the Right and the Left.

The basic dilemma, he said, is how the country will be governed and not by whom. His wish is to move from a memorandum state into another one, Greece’s full restructuring, and added that harsh measures would have been avoided had the changes been initiated much earlier.

Venizelos is also concerned with national and European issues such as FYROM’s EU accession - a matter to be discussed during the NATO Summit in May, too - and the course which our continent is on. One of his very thorny comments has been the one where he supported that in the past ten years, Greek governments and high-ranking officials have shown no interest in “our national issues”.

On Wednesday, PASOK will announce its election committee.
