ND: Venizelos covered Tsochatzopoulos!

ND is fanning the flames of election controversy today, unleashing an attack against PASOK president Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, associating him with Mr. Akis Tsochatzopoulos, whom he had previously defended.

Mr. Yiannis Michelakis stated: “Mr. Venizelos is provoking the public. From being Akis Tsochatzopoulos' defense counsel in 2004, today he represents the prosecution, hiding behind the decisions of Justice”.

The ND representative reiterated that Mr. Venizelos, as part of the Investigative Committee which - at the initiative of New Democracy - investigated the scandal of the acquisition of arms programs, characterized the case as pre-election scandal mongering and declared that “There is no evidence which could possibly lead to charging the former minister and the executives of the political and military leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, who for months were affronted and unjustly reviled, with any criminal offense”.

The ND party also believes that the issue offers itself for generalization, and supports is allegations against PASOK. “The same people, the same companies and the same role. This is Akis Tsochatzopoulos’ PASOK, Tsoukatos’ Mandelis’ and Papakonstantinou’s PASOK.  The PASOK of Simitis, Papandreou, Venizelos. The PASOK which does not change”.

With the attack on PASOK, Mr. Samaras rallies supporters and if he succeeds, he will see a further reduction of the PASOK poll rates, and thus will be able to set terms after elections.
