The Resurrection of Christ was gloriously celebrated all across Greece

Millions of people across the country attended Mass ahead of the Resurrection waiting to hear the hopeful message of the rising of Christ, Christos Anesti, and receive the Holy Light.

In Aghios Dionysios Areopaghitis, Athens, the Mass was headed by Archbishop Ieronymos, whereas in Fanari, the holy message was delivered by the Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos. Premier Lucas Papademos, Giannis Tragakis and Olga Kefalogianni from ND, Anna Diamantopoulou and Yiorgos Koutroumanis from PASOK, the Attica Prefect Giannis Sgouros and former interim premier G. Grivas, all attended the Athens Mass along with military representatives and locals who did not leave the capital.

PASOK head Evangelos Venizelos received the Holy Light in Thessaloniki with ND president Antonis Samaras traveling to his hometown, Nafplio, where he celebrated Easter.

The President of the Republic, Karolos  Papoulias, traveled to his hometown of Ioannina and later today will visit Naoussa, where he has planned to exchange wishes with the soldiers stationed there.

KKE general secretary Aleca Papariga and LAOS president Yiorgos Karatzaferis stayed in Athens.

SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras is visiting his family in Aegina.
